Fitting Air Con to 420G
Hi,
I have a 1967 420G that i use as a daily driver. I've done a lot to it and its great to drive, unfortunately it dosent have air conditioning and driving in the Queensland summer can be unbearable. I have acess to a complete air con out of a 1970's Series one XJ6. Has anyone or does anyone know if it would fit in. Im sure it will fit on the engine as it has the same 4.2 engine and there is plenty of space in the engine bay. My only concern is fitting it inside. I do not want to butcher the dash, i am prepared to make some alterations but i dont want cut out parts or have a large ugly unit that looks like it dosen't belong. Could i just use the vents above my feat and make a small control box? (there is a picture of one in the owners manual) Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Preston

Preston,
I realize that this post is over a year old, but I wonder what you ended up doing? There are quite a few ways you could put in an AC unit -- including installing a modern day rear unit (although a front blower is, hands-down, much more useful for short trips).
Did you ever install one?
