I had an X-Type 3 litre Sport with manual transmission. I loved it. I'd love an s-Type R. I drive an XF Supercharged. I'm conflicted!

I have had an X Type 2.5 manual for 8 1/2 years, and put 170,000 mostly trouble free miles on it, until an idiot rear ended it 2 weeks ago, totalling the car and giving my fair daughter a pretty good whiplash. This weekend I bought an 03 S Type to replace it. My take is that the S Type is probably a better car, but the X Type has its place, especially in rain or snow.

apples and oranges, X Types are better in rain and snow especially. But S Types are faster, look a little sleeker, but to me are a summer driver.

I am unable to vote because I never owned or driven an x type but from what I have read it sounds like a good car. I acquired 2000 s-type from my son that replaced my 95xj6 and I must say I never felt like I needed to look back. So far I have driven it for 11,000mi (77,000mi on the car now) and replaced the battery, brakes, trans fluid change (by choice), and repaired a vacuum leak. In the past 4 weeks I have driven it 2500mi without mishap and I hope I am not premature in saying that. I also have a 99xk8 with 119,900mi and we love driving it with the top down. I like my s-type and would recommend it to anyone. I know I am rambling!!

Also replaced the window regulators on all windows when my son had the car.

Are you polling to purchase either or? Are you just asking to ask?

If you are looking to purchase one for yourself, I would give alittle more details about what you are looking for in an automobile.

They both are wonderful vehicles, one is 4 wheel drive the other is not, one is smaller the other larger see where I am going here?

x-type
- great for all season driving
- smaller means easier to park in tight spots
- cheaper probably

s-type
- i wouldn't risk driving in snow, careful in rain
- more room
- i'd expect better fuel efficiency
- more engine choices

Neither is better than the other, both are different. I can't therefore vote in your poll.

However, Sidewalkman's X Type estate is just plain sexy. Jaguar need to think about reintroducing an estate model.

Makes sense, nice. I just hope that they don't make the rear look too heavy.
