1959 Mk1 engine
Wow, a good question ! I don't think there are many people that have ever measured these things, but the engine is the same as fitted to the Mark 2 2.4 that started in 1959. The 2.4 block is about 2" less in height to the other larger engines due to its short stroke, so if you measure up a 3.4 or 3.8, you need to take about 2" off the height.
Good question, are you making a crate for one ?
I have my 3.4 out of the car at the moment, do you want the biggest dimensions, i.e. so you could make a box for it to fit in, or do you need something more detailed, I will happily measure for you if I know what you need.

Thanks Tilley.
I need to know how long is the engine from flywheel to end of cranckshaft pulley.
How tall from bottom of pan to top of valve covers.
Thank You Much
I Appreciate it.

Can't find it. Can someone tell me the Wheel Bolt Pattern for steel rims on a 1959 Mark I.
(Trying to figure out if the rear suspension frame from a 1991 BMW 318 will fit using the original Jaguar steel wheels. Bimmers are 5 X 120. XJ6's are 5 X 120.7).

I assume they are the same as the MK2 which is 5 by 120.65 or 5 by 4.75" imperial.
Center bore should be 73.9 mm
The BMW is 5 by 120, people say they can interchange, but you will put a potentially large stress on the studs, I did it once on a trailer and had several studs shear off !
A lot of American cars use the imperial 4.75" PCD
