If you want to put your ashtray bits in the post I will try and sort for you if you would like me to, just let me know.

Richard,

I have two that have the exterior chrome swivels intact, the chrome is better than good but not new.

the swiveling covers move easily and lock easily. They came from a 1964 S type I found and purchased in the Florida jungle.

Inside, the casing has surface rust at the bottom which can only be removed by sandblasting.

Hi folks,

Many thanks for the replies regarding my self damaged rear ashtrays!
As is usual, nothing with me is simple! At the moment (and for a few more weeks) I’m on holiday in New Zealand, staying with my daughter who lives there. My S type is back home in the U.K., presumably shivering! However, I follow the forum daily, and was happy to enter into e-mail correspondence if I could get hold of a few “missing/could do with better” parts.
So Jon, thank you for your kind offer, (and your previous ideas) but I’m not home until late March, when I might well be in touch.
Jose: thank you for your offer. A few people are sending me “p.m’s”, so I’ll wait to receive those before I commit to you.
Once again, thanks to all you Forum members, and for those of you in the U.K., it’s 08.45 here and 24 degrees!!

Default stash of parts find

in the stash of parts I got recently there is a center Gauge and Switches panel which has the car Keys in the Ignition Switch!! Unbelievable!!

Two original keys, one for the Ignition and the second for the Boot!! Yes, the boot, lock and plynth are there too.

unfortunately no door locks. But certainly existing door locks can be re-keyed to accept the original keys.

So if anyone is needing original 3.4 / 3.8 S type keys, complete with ignition switch and Book lock, I have them.

The car is now in bits and the shell away for scrap so if anyone is looking for parts, let me know. Doors are all away. Complete engine suitable for a conversion is there. Turns over nicely on the front pulley. Complete with carbs, manifolds, distributor, etc. Back IRS is there as well as the complete front suspension.
Let me know what you are looking for.

Hi there (again!)

Do you still have the two pieces that form the steering column shroud? In particular, I’m after the lower portion of the shroud, as mine is partially broken. I understand the “auto” version is different to the manual gearbox version, but I think yours was an auto (as is mine)

correct: the Manual and Manual + Overdrive transmission "Nacelles" are different than the Automatic transmission Nacelles.

They are called "Nacelles" by Jaguar. The two black plastic covers (top and bottom) behind the steering wheel.

if he does not have it, I can find you one. The lower one is the one that always breaks.
