Question Daimler V8 250 1967 Rear Lights

Hello All,

I am new to the forum, and I have just purchased a Daimler V8 250 1967.

The car is going in for a full respray. currently I have the problem of trying to remove the rear lights. I have removed all of the other chrome work and headlights.

I have removed the lens, the long screw and the bolt in the rear lights, the rear light is loose, but it wont come off.

Does anybody have any idea of how to remove these rear lights,

Many Thanks,

Bob

Hello Again,

** Grill Removal **

Could somebody tell me if I need to remove the the cars radiator to release the grill on the car? I have looked at all different solutions of removing the grill, but I cannot find one without removing the cars radiator. Can anybody give me some ideas please,

Many Thanks,

Bob

There is an access panel at the bottom of the grill just below the bumper _ it's held in place with two bolts.
Once removed, find someone with long skinny arms to reach up inside there to remove the grill.

As Jeff said -

From memory, there are 4 nuts, size 5/16" UNF.

A ratchet spanner/wrench sure helps.

When I re-fitted mine, I overtightened one & broke off the thread, so take care.

The tail-light plinths (I think that's what they're called) are held on by two nuts or bolts (top & bottom), access being gained by removing the boarded panels inside each wing/fender.

The lamp bulb holders tend to be tight on the body and need to be persuaded out! I then enlarged the holes in the body to make fitting easier!
As for the front radiator grille, you need more than just skinny arms! I found some of my fasteners broken, some corroded and it was easier to remove the radiator to get a proper look see! The fibreglass ducting can be a pain also!

Exclamation Daimler grill and rear light removal

Hello All, Thank you for all of your time explaining to me!

I have attached two photos of underneath my Daimler bumper to clarify if it is the right access panel that I am looking at removing.

Also with the lights, I have tried again today. I have removed all fixtures holding the light in. The light is loose but wont come off because the rubber is holding it on. does anybody know if it would work if I heated the rubbers up with a hair-dryer to make the rubbers soft again to remove?

Many Thanks,

Bob

The arrows in my photo shows the bolts that hold the access panel. My car only has two, but maybe other models have four.
You can also see the outline of the panel in your second photo.

Bit of heat will do wonders _ use a small tip with some MAPP gas _comes in a yellow can.

the best access to remove the grill is to remove the radiator, you can access the top center 8mm nut and all the others by inserting your hand and arm through the access panel, but the contortions needed will leave you in pain for a week. And that assumes you don't have a thick wrist or arm.
