Default DBMZ distributor coil wire lead question

Im dealing with a no spark issue and after taking distributor apart I am surprised to see no inside insulator on the stud that exits the housing - there is one on the outside where the wire is attached.
safe to assume it has deteriorated and some improvisation is required? pix attached shows outside insulator
tnx all

Have you checked the sprung centre brush on your distributor cap that touches the rotor?

yes I have checked for that. Tnx
i was hoping someone would post a pix of the insulator that I am missing or just a shot of the post with the proper set up
i suppose i can just eliminate the post altogether and just run a wire directly to the coil from the points

Should be a Lucas 22 D6 ~ there is a whole insulation block that slides into a grove on the side of the distributor body as above.

The mark 2 I am working on is a 1960 so that may explain the earlier DMBZ6a distributor which has the stud on the side and not the slot with insulated LT terminal.

Default Lucas DMBZ 6A distributor

Hi Glyn
Are there any detailed photographs showing the internal components of the Lucas distributor DMBZ 6A, in particular the indicated (dotted) area, once the point plate has been removed ?
My best regards
Gérard

I'm afraid Glyn is no longer with us, he passed away a year or so ago.
