Default Fumes in the cockpit

Engine has been out of my Mark 1 recently and when it was put back together the engine breather is currently attached to the LH inner guard and the outlet is aimed down low where the front rail meets the firewall. While this provides great rust proofing (!) I suspect it is contributing to a fumey, acrid burnt oil smell in the car. Hoping to see a photo and /or advice on the correct setting of the engine breather hose. Does it attach directly to the engine block and point straight down towards the road?

Surely the engine breather pipe goes to the inlet manifold after the oil separator ? The oil separator used to be at the front-top of the engine.

Thanks for the reply but on the early engines (eg. XK120s and Mark 1s) the breather is just a pipe to the outside air.

Hello,

Just let the breather pipe go to a Breather filter.
That will work fine.
And if the enigine is fine you will not see any fumes at all.

regards,
Peter Jan
