Interior Pieces - Where To Go?
Here are pics of the interior pieces that came with the car. The entire interior was disassembled and in boxes. It's been getting back together bit by bit.
But these two pieces are a bit confusing..... Do they go above the rear back seat on the side walls ( as I suspect )? Or do they fit above the rear window?
Also: what was their original use?
( Can they be left off without any real s )
TIA

Hi, the pictures are very dark, they look like they may be the trims low down on the A post, these are riveted in place by the furflex, but it is difficult to see.
If you post some lighter pictures I may be able to help, if it is those I can post a picture to show where and how they fit.
I am restoring my MK2 at the moment and most of the trim is out, but not all, so I should be able to identify the bits easily, or someone else may well be able to answer you.
regards
Jon

They appear to be the metal retaining pieces that keep the door weatherstrip in place. Each door has such a strip, and they were pop riveted in place, although I have seen self tappers used as after market fix.
Not sure if any fur flex should be attached though, unless the Daimler is different to a Mark 2.
Redtriangle is correct, my brain is not the best ! They form the channel for the door seal, I was misled by the fact that there appears to be remnants of Furflex on the original pictures.
Looking at the picture again I'm not completely convinced they are the same part, the ends appear to have a step in which are not on my bits ?
Here are the pieces on my car (Resto)

maybe try and offer them up to see how they fit. May need a little bending as mine were distorted slightly when removed (my fault!).
The seal that fits btw the retainer & the fender is a bitch to get right, esp if your'e using contact cement which allows only one go. If it is stuck incorrectly, the raised lip than seals the door gap becomes uneven and looks pretty ordinary when the door is closed. I intend to have another go at mine.
Obviously, with 90,000 of these cars made, the factory figured how to do it right. Hope it doesn't take me 90,000 go's.
