Default USA sheet metal sources/suppliers for Mk.2

My Mk.2 was hit in the rear, and needs most sheet metal and a new fuel tank. SNG Barratt in the UK seems to make SOME panels, but not all that I need. Are there any boneyards that Members here know of - that have Mk.2's? Would trunk floors from an S, or other models substitute - with proper modification?

I'm afraid the rear of the S-Type is totally different to the MK2, you need either a MK2 or Daimler V8 250 (both of which are basically the same from a body shell perspective.

If you have some pictures of above and below we can perhaps advise what parts you might need or whether its worth repairing.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Getting rear-ended sucks, especially where the victim is a classic car like a MK2.

Here is a thread which talks about some of the differences between the two cars:

If I recall correctly, there are some pretty significant differences between the two cars in terms of the trunk floor sheet metal.

I'm not sure if Martin Robey ship to the USA, but the quality of their panels is excellent. They may have a US agent, or supply via SNG Barrett.

You can no longer get all the panels, even from Marting Robey as the demand is probably not there and they're too difficult to make at a reasonable price.

Martin Robey is a good call for panels/part panels. Robey & Barratts each make some parts in house & supply one another.

It pays to talk to Robey. They sometimes have parts that are not shown anywhere. They also have access to some good used parts or cut off sections.

David Manners also sometimes has some hard to get bits that surface out of storage from time to time.

You may want to check this out. He had several MK2 shells for sale. It is a fair distance from you.

Pictures would be good, but sounds like a donor bodyshell is by far the best way to go, they do come up quite a bit. The only issue will be if you want to graft the rear end from a donor, you will probably need 2 donor shells as you will need to destroy some parts to get the other parts off !
