Default Vin location

looking to buy a project 1962 mk ii 3.8, however the vin plate that is attached to the firewall is missing. Owner has title with vin printed on it but I can't confirm the title/vin matches the car. Since the car is old, where are all the places the vin would be so I can at least find one place where I can read the vin. Thanks for all your help in advance!

I believe it's also where the hood latch comes down, just in front of the rad _ in that area.
It may be painted over and hard to see as it's stamped right into the metal.

Here's the relevant extract from the Service Manual:

The VIN system wasn't in place in the Mk2 era. The Chassis Plate is stamped with:

1. Chassis No
2. Body No
3. Engine No
4. Gearbox No

You do not list location. Be aware of your states requirements when buying or selling these old cars. As where I live, you better have a bill of sale and a matching title. If you pay a certain price, the bill of sale prevents the state from overtaxing vehicle. Without a bill of sale, you pay blue book price in taxes. A wrong title can be a nightmare in getting a new one. Got to www.saloondata.com and see if it is registered and compare to the plate.

Once you are sure you have the correct numbers, you could replicate the ID plate using one of these:

Jaguar E Type SER 1 MK2 S Type 420 MK10 420G Alloy Repro Chassis JCP2 | eBay

From memory, the body number is on a stamped plate affixed on the near side of the trunk, below the petrol pump. You may have to remove the trunk side trim to spot it. I'll send a photo of mine later on (too damn cold out in the shed ATM!).
