Does anyone know if a XJ6 independent rear axel will mount to a 3.8 MK2?

This is the link they gave me. I have a mk2 3.8 and didn't see a forum for it besides the s type.

Ya that's what I've discovered, but should be able to offset it with the tires. It's only going to be about 2" longer on each side.

Jaguar tried it and they couldn't make it work, so they redesigned the MK-2 and out of that came the S type, (code named MK-3).

they could not IRS the MK-2 rear third of the body, so they elongated and widened the body to fit the E-type's IRS.

And did a terrible styling job of it in the rear end in the process.

Going from a live axle setup to an IRS setup will never be an easy task, so mounting positions could be utilised, but generally new redesigned chassis rails and mounting points will need to be made to suit the IRS setup.

Ya I think we're just going to stay with the axel we have. It can be done but with a lot of work. I watched a video of a guy that did it but it looks like he took out some crucial parts to do it and I'm not going to risk doing that. I'm hoping that when I jack my car up that maybe it has the lock axel on it.

It is and it' a '61 so I'm thinking it should. The later ones I believe they quit putting them in to cut cost.

I am not sure how JD Classics did it but if you look at 1:23 seconds into their Youtube it looks like they found a way to mount a Jaguar IRS from some latter model Jag as I looks like it is outboard brakes?

One would think that the carbon fibre drive shaft would shatter.
I wonder I thick it is ?
