Daniel Moore here. Live in Southern California desert. Recently inherited 03 S-type 4.2 (not super.) V-8 from father. 104K miles. 6-speed auto trans. Runs good. Needs paint, otherwise very good shape.

Questions:
(1) Hesitation (almost lurch) in initial acceleration. Cause?

(2) Don't know if trans has ever been serviced. Told by Jag. dealer tech. that it never needs to be serviced. My trans guy is willing to try--for $$$

(3) I'm told trans has filter incorporated with bottom hatch--but not on all transmissions. How can I tell which is which?

(4) Have had much fun out-thinking climate-control system to run on manual. Is this normal?
