Default 1985 XJ6 series III

Hello, I purchased this XJ6 about 2 years ago. It was originally from Califorinia so it has minimal rust. The car came with with a tired GM crate engine, chevy 350 (225 hp) and a turbo 350 transmission. I have since replaced the engine and trans with a 400hp chevy 383 stroker and a 700R4 transmision.. what a differnce ). I am currently working on the interior. The seats are good, I've replaced the dash and am in the process of replacing the trip meter wood grain bezel..

Welcome to the forum Kevin,

That's some major work you've completed on the XJ6. Let's see some pics.
Thanks for adding vehicle details to your signature line. It helps everyone here.

Body looks in very good condition.

Must be absolute minimum clearance between the bonnet and the air filter!

Smile air cleaner clearance**

You are correct.. The old 350 had a holley carb and manual choke..On the new engine I used a 600 edelbrock with automatic choke that needed some minor work on the hood/bonnet and a smaller air cleaner. I was planning on replacing it with a larger air cleaner and a 1 1/2" filter but the smaller one grew on me... you can see more of the engine.. Another issue I had was with the xj6 exhaust system.. 1 small muffler and 1 very large muffler/resonator per side.. I couldn't hear the engine from the inside. So I had them replace the long resonator with a straight pipe... Now it sounds much better )

Thats awesome, I have the same car but original. Except for the rebuilt tranny. I was thinking about doing the conversion but that will be later down the road, I still have a ways to go getting it completely functional. Did you have the seats reupholstered? What was the price?

Default 1985 xj6 383 stroker

seats and headliner were in very good condition.. I paid $4000 for the car.. With the 700r4 automatic transmission @ 2000 rpm the car cruises @ 72 mph...
