1996 XJS turns over but wont start
OK, I'm stumped and could really use help. I'm working on a 1996 XJS that has been sitting for 6 months, ran great prior to sitting, and now turns over but wont kick or start. The following are some key data points:
Jeff
- Car turns over well but no kicking sputtering or spitting. Just cranks smoothly
- No spark and no injector fire (there is good fuel pressure)
- I've checked power to the ECU and it's good
- I've checked the two ECU relays and swapped the relays and they work (swapping made no difference)
- I've checked continuity to/through the crank sensor coil at the ECU plug pins and the continuity is good (so I assume that's working and the corresponding gear looks good)
- A very good friend let me borrow a working/matching ECU (amazing he had one) and that made no difference (and saved me much time and money)
- I cleaned/sprayed the ECU plugs.
- All the wires look like they are in great shape. The car appears to have been extremely well taken care of.

Hello, Jeff,
I'm sorry your Jaguar is giving you such fits! I hope you can get it fixed so you can drive the wheels off as it was intended.
