Default 1998 Jag XJ8L trunk opener not working

Hello I'm a new forum member from Concord, CA and own a 1998 Jaguar XJ8L for about 6 years.
My Jag's trunk can't be opened neither by pushing the outside button or the inside switch. It'll only open with the car key. The fuses seem to be ok.
Where should I start looking 1st?

Welcome to the forums JCjaguar,

Good to have you with us.

The most regular cause of this issue is a break in the harness attached to the lid hinge. With repeated flexing over time as the luggage compartment is opened and closed, wires do break.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Thank you all for the welcoming messages!
I inspected the trunk harness this morning and in fact a couple of black wires split from the group. I'll work on re-attaching them this weekend.
Best regards.
