Default 1st Jag

Hello all, I just recently purchased a 1998 XK8. After reviewing a lot on this forum I decided to purchase it. It has 135k miles on it, however the transmission was rebuilt 15k miles ago, and the drive belts were replaced back in 03 to the upgraded ones. The car is in prestine mechanical condition however has a few flaws cosmetically (but nothing major). I am currently stationed in Jacksonville, FL. I am hoping to learn a lot from you all and this site. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum,

Good to hear you did the research before making the purchase and got an XK8 with two of the major weaknesses already sorted.

Hi Morrison, welcome to the forum. +1 on the above comments on doing your homework first! But number one on your list should be to check the condition of your secondary tensioners, there are many examples here of members suffering unpleasant surprises, or congratulating themselves on finding themselves close to the edge when they performed their own checks. You want to be in the latter group

I also bought my first Jag just a year ago, and have learned so much from the members of this forum. There are a great many knowledgeable members contributing on the XK8/XKR section. Look forward to hearing more from you there.

Steve

Thank you all! Good piece of advice for the secondary tensioners!! After checking those of course the owner before me did neglect the interior a little..so I need a lot of cleaning..and the leather is wearing fading on the steering wheel...so a some cosmetic work to do and it should look nice...
