Default 2000 Jaguar/xj8 with 118,000 Miles

Hi-- I bought my Jag in Fla this past July & drove it to Boston w/o any problems. Recently the "engine coolant low" light has come on- then off then on. The well appears full. Any thoughts. This is my first Jaguar and first car in 10 years.
Thanks in advance,
Patricia

Welcome to the forum Patricia,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Around a 1300 mile drive home? Looks like a great route.

The
"engine coolant low" light is probably only a faulty Level Sensor in the Expansion Tank. This is a regular issue as they do stick. However, NEVER ignore coolant level or temperature warnings on the V8 - overheating is an engine killer.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome... plan on replacing the expansion tank as a unit. The new expansion tank will have a new sensor, and will not be prone to leaking which is common when only replacing the sensor. Enjoy your new Cat!
