2004 XJ8 issues NEWBIE help
Hello,
Purchased a 2004 XJ8 at an auction. Pretty car, but a headache. I have some issues and I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, so could use some help.
1. First suspension faults; CATS, and car too low. Replaced all the failing air shocks with conventional shocks (replacement kit from Rock Auto) Car rides great now but the question is "can I clear all these faults without spending an arm and leg"???
2. Bonnet open fault. The bonnet (hood) is closed. I have cleaned the area and slammed the hood multiple times. Still a fault and just started happening. Any other suggestions???
3. AC worked fine, now does not. Recharge the AC. Where is the port?? point me in right direction???
4. rear passenger door handle does not work from outside. this one is mechanical. I can figure it out.
Really like the look for the car, but for GOD sakes, all these minor horror stories. I live in the Michigan, Macomb County area, Any locals willing to help out or trade favors? Case of beer? Case of bourbon??

Welcome to the forums Imdying1,
Good to have you with us. Nothing in your "to do" list that should be too expensive.
The high pressure A/C service port valve is located on the tube assembly - condenser to thermostatic expansion valve. The low pressure service port valve is located on the manifold and tube assembly - A/C compressor
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Hello,
I'm sorry your Auction Prize has turned out a disappointment. But in my neck of the woods, Any car at auction, no matter how good it looks, is considered to be a bundle of snakes just waiting to bite.
However, you have come to the right place for help and assistance. Before long, with some effort, along with the help and assistance of members in the section where Graham has directed you, you can make your new Jaguar into the car of your dreams. Then later after it's all finished and you're driving your Beautiful Jag, on a Beautiful day, all this anguish will be a memory with which to regale your friends at BBQs.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
