2004 XJ8 shock mismatch-wheel shudder
I bought a pre-owned machine, and have detected a definite front wheel hop and shake. I dread bridges, perpendicular seams and joints, and most surface imperfections, because they upset the front end. One front "airspring" is OEM, while the other is that typical aftermarket job with the doughy-looking rubber boot, rather than the accordian-looking unit. Is this the source of the problem? Is this shake a result of the different inherent compression and rebound characteristics of the OEM/am units? This condition takes away a great deal of driver satisfaction.

welcome aboard
sorry to hear about your issues, you may get better responses in the correct section for your vehicle.....sounds like you've hit the nail on the head though....personally I'm surprised that they've been changed singly as usually they're changed in pairs??
Loads going on, plenty of very friendly and helpful members as well as some excellent tech advice......all good!
In the meantime I've manually upgraded you to full forum access so you can better view the site
Probobly not because arnot uses oem shocks and remans units based on oem cores with new bags and their own upper tops.
Unless you have a bad shock. And i would look at this since you have 2 differant shocks of unknown mileage

I am new to the Forum, and bewildered at how to post without going to the new members area, let alone going to the XJ8 area, where my issue could be heard. Can someone direct me to the XJ8/new post area? Sorry to be such a dumb-ace.

On the home page, the first screen thats loaded, simply scroll downwards and you will see the section headers.......
New member area
Moderators room
Off topic etc etc
Then you'll see Jaguar models.....
X type
S type
Xf / XFR........
Simply scroll down until you see the section for your car and click on it.
There you'll see all the latest posts, usually the newest are in bold type and at the top......either click on whatever posts takes your fancy or click on the "new thread" button to create one of your own...
Hope this helps some
