Default 2005 X350 4.2 super charged engine removal

Hi All

A friends dad has a 2005 4.2 V8 supercharged. His son and I have been charged with removing the engine as there are some issues with one of the cylinders.
So question is..... is it possible to remove engine and transmission out the top and any further advice is greatly received!

Many thanks

Dan

Welcome to the forums Dan,

Unless you plan on dropping the front suspension, it has to lift out of the top:

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome to the Forums.

As we say down here, "the angle of the dangle" is critical on any engine/trans removal. At least this one has 4 less cylinders than the ones I usually get tasked with.

Good luck.

Here's the removal and refit sequence from the X350 Workshop Manual.

You will have to meet the number of posts and days membership criteria before you can download it.
