Another Newb to Know
Hi everyone. I'm a new member to this site today but I have owned my 2000 XJ8 for about 2 years and 50,000 miles. I have visited this site via web search engine a few times as I was looking for information and I like the way people act civilized here and the amount of information available so I thought I should join instead of just lurk.
A little background on me:
I work in heavy industrial maintenance - mostly power plants and heavy mineral processing plants. I am a gear head by birth and I build rock crawlers and ride motorcycles in my spare time. My motorcycle of choice is an Indian Chief and my rock crawlers are all built from early model Ford Broncos. I use my XJ8 as a daily driver. Primarily to exercise my visitation rights with my children who live in another state. I drive this car 1200 miles every two weeks for this alone, which packs the miles on fast. I need to keep this car running reliably for a few more years. I want to say that the service guys at my local Jag dealer are top notch and would bend over backwards for me, they are just expensive and I choose to use them when I get in over my head.
For everything else, I'm a DIY kind of guy. I'm hoping all the experts here are willing to help me help myself. Based on what I have seen here, I'm sure that will be the case.

Welcome Past_Miner to the forum, glad you finally decided to join up This place is not like the other forums out there thats for sure.
Glad to hear that you have found reputable Jag service, at a cost but hey sometimes thats a good thing.
Enjoy all the site has to offer!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm not at all new to wrenching on vehicles or anything else for that matter. My biggest problem is getting to the information I need to troubleshoot this car. The JTIS I have is a bit clunky to operate and seems to have big gaps in its available information. Even my owners manual doesn't show the actual relay and fuse locations. The pictures have every slot labeled R1 or F1
. I am sure the gaps can be filled in by the good people here.
Not to hijack my own thread.....but I'm having an intermittent fuel pump problem I need to resolve today that I have posted over in the 99-03 XJ forumn. If anyone has the silver bullet answer I would love to hear it.
THanks again for the welcome.

I believe a 1920's or '30's Indian still holds a record in the under 200 cc class but I can't really remember. I did see a 1930's Scout at Bonneville that last time I was there so at least we know there are still people running them out there.
Mine is one of the modern bikes from one of the newer companies. Not quite as cool as an original but many times more reliable. Here is my first attempt at posting a couple of pictures:
