Default Arrrrggggh Camt find whats wrong with headlights

Hi all

New to the club, so hi from me.

I have a problem which i have trawled the pages of this site and found some useful info but the fix doesnt fit my car.

So. Headlights aren't working on dipped. The full beams come on when asked and so do the fogs etc. Just no dipped beam.

I have checked fuses and all ok. A suggestion in here was checking relay No. 9 but my car doesnt have this in place anyway.

I can't afford to have lots to spend at the garage and would appreciate any help.

Thanks guys and gals in advance.

Welcome to the forum flynnejammin,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Has this just happened or was it like that when you purchased the vehicle?

The LH and RH dip beams have separate fuses so there's only a remote possibility they would go simultaneously. The electrical schematic for your model indicates there is a dip beam relay fitted to both autolamp and non-autolamp variants.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thanks for the quick replies and the welcome. I think i need to highlight that when it comes to cars, you may as well be talking chinese to me. I shall try and change my signature as well.

Both lights went on the same day.

I have checked the fuses which are fine.

Thanks for confirming the background to the issue.

I've done the forum Signature for you - it will appear with your next post.

I still think "relay". According to the electrical schematic (wiring diagram), the dipped beam relay is in the Power Distribution Fusebox:

If there isn't one there (which would be very strange), ask the question in X-Type forum for advice from members with the same model.
