Default Auxiliary lead for stereo

Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to fit an auxiliary lead into the stereo of my 06 S Type (x200 I think 2.7 TDV)
I've tried the FM transmitter but the background interference is awful.
I did today ask a local auto electrician if he could do it but wasn't very keen, he said the car runs on fibre optics so unless jaguar do a part to fit it cannot be done. I know nothing about vehicle electrics so please don't get to technical. A company name or part link please.
Peter.

Welcome to the forums Peter,

Our members have been quite inventive in dragging Jaguar audio into the 21st century so if it can be done .......

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

I've added vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. If you want to change these, go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome, Peter. It might be helpful if you indicated your location and which sound system is installed in your S-type. If the car is a 2.7 liter diesel, I am guessing GB or Europe. For the base sound system, there was a "work around" solution floating around the forums which involved tapping into the signal feed within the dash mounted CD player. Other solutions involve replacing the head unit with an after-market part. No easy, plug-and-play solutions come to mind though... Good luck with your search.
