Default S Type Stereo upgrade

Hi , Hoping for some help please. I have a 2004 2.7d - I want to upgrade the head unit to the Jaguar sat nav version! The wiring for the heater etc is 1 x socket rarther than the 2 x sockets in the back of the original unit. What is the best easiest way to get rewired/adapted to fit new sat nav version. Many Thanks Ian

Welcome to the forum Ian,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. Undoubtedly the "best and easiest way" is to change to a vehicle with it fitted but I'm sure that is not the answer you want to hear!

Follow this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link

Welcome.

Graham is probably on the money with that suggestion.

These later cars are near impossible to "upgrade".

All things are doable, eventually.

Good luck

Welcome to the forum!

I don’t know why you would want the jaguar original sat nav...
They’re horrible!!
Why not get a double din head unit that’s more up to date?
You can get a fascia adapter, wiring and steering wheel control harness from ebay for not a lot at all and this imho is far better than the original
ive done the conversion in both of my x types and just about to install it in my XJ

ofc this is all just my opinion, if you do want to get the factory one, this may be of some use:
I took out the climate control from my x type (a long time ago when doing a custom ipad installation) and unplugged both the connectors on the back of the c/c and if you try to drive, it shows gearbox fault on the dash and obviously the c/c doesnt work.
however, just having one of the connectors plugged in (either black or white i cant remember) let me use the c/c and didnt give a gearbox fault, so one of them may be a redundant connector in which case it should be plug and play for you

good luck
