Hello,
After several years I've recently acquired my second '87 xj6( first one had succomb to rust).I'm flying down to Florida next week and driving it back to Maine....fingers crossed. PO seems to be on top of maintenance. Thinking Blue Ridge Parkway vs 95. Any suggestions on a survival kit would be appreciated. The resource of a forum was not available the first time around. Thankful for this Jag community
Regards
Jeff Fleming

Welcome to the forum Jeff,

The Florida source should ensure you don't have any rust issues to start with on the second one.

A 1987 XJ6 could be either a Series III or an early XJ40. Follow this link XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the Series III section or this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-25/ to the XJ40 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the US North East Region section by following this link North East US - ME NH VT MA RI CT NJ NY PA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Congrats Jeff..
I'm a Mainer myself. I'd love to come check out that car when you make it back. Give me a shout. Heading for Dallas this morning for a week, but back for a few weeks after. Keep your I-phone handy if there are any problems. I suspect you will not want to buy any tools in Florida, and if there are any concerns, take the road more traveled (in case you do have problems)

Thanks everyone ,I'm excited and I'm looking forward to the second time around.
BTW it's a series III. The color is the Windsor or Westminster blue with tan hides.

I did a similar trip last weekend, flew down and picked up a 1998 XK8 in Maryland and drove it back to New Brunswick. My travel kit included the addresses and phone numbers of every Jag dealer along Hwy 95. You have an excellent jag dealer in Scarborough. I didn't have a lick of problems but it was nice to know were to go if I did. Once I drove mine for a couple of days and was comfortable that she would make it I switched over to Hwy 1 for the remainder of the trip. If you guys ever have a get together in Maine let me know
