Belated Hello!
Hello everyone.
Please excuse the lateness of my introduction. Two months (approx) ago I purchased a 2004 X type 2.0D Estate, a beautiful looking car. So far it's given me a few headaches, and in return I've given it a couple of new injectors, fuel filters, a map sensor, and managed to clean away some of the black oily gunk in the engine bay using my hands, arms, face and clothes. But it's done 120,000 miles now so what more could be expected? Probably plenty.
Whilst fixing the broken wiring to the map sensor plug this morning, I noticed what appears to be a quite large oil leak, maybe gearbox as the oil was a clear/reddish colour, or maybe another fluid?
Anyway, I'm glad to be here.

Welcome to the forum Mark,
Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. Provided you haven't been sweating blood with the recent issues, the red fluid could be either transmission or steering fluid. Yet more cleaning going to be needed to find the source.
I know you've already found your way to the X-Type tech forum so no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-68/ to find other members in this country.
Enjoy the forums.

I hope you fix your problems with your X Type. We have been owners of Jaguars for about 18 years now and had a few problematic ones, but on the whole they are wonderful cars.
