Default Bought a Blown (pun intended?) 03 STR - Arizona

Hello from Queen Creek AZ. I finally joined the forum after reading hundreds of threads for info. I bought a rough running 03 STR that had 46k miles on it about 6 months ago now. Turns out the motor is blown, front two cylinders have zero compression. After investigating the problem it turns out one cylinder dropped a valve and the other I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking broken connecting rod even though nothing is sticking out of the block.

Fast forward six months and I'm in the process of swapping motors from another 03 STR I bought for $200, body is pretty rough and it was missing the transmission but it has a motor with 80k miles (that hopefully runs haha) and a few other parts I can use. Will probably part the car out at some point once I get my car up and running. Currently have both motors out and pulled the trans out of my car to service it (not sure to what extent yet). With three kids, wife's business and work things just go slower than I like, but it is what it is.

Couple things about me, I'm married with 3 kids, love cars, have 10 cars (most are projects) and 2 motorcycles, like guns and remodeling the house, hockey fan. I am a Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) Lead Engineer and throughly enjoy it most of the time. I joined for the knowledge and to be able to ask advise when needed.

Nate

Welcome to the forums Nate,

Good to have you with us.

It sounds like you've already found your way to the S-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums and good luck with your project.

Graham

Hello, Nate,
Congratulations on your Project Jaguars!
You certainly have enough to keep you busy, as "things just go slower than you like."

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
