Question Cause of Brake Squeaking

I drive a Jag XE 2.0 Prestige model. Does anyone know what is the cause of the squeaking sound when the car pedal brake is applied fully? How do I check (without dismantling) if the brake pad has worn out?

Welcome to the forums Jag Lag,

DON'T TAKE RISKS - if you are concerned about the brakes and either unwilling or unable to inspect them yourself, have a garage do this as soon as possible.

Squeaking is usually indicative of metal to metal contact. This could be as simple as pad(s) sticking on caliper guides which is only annoying unless it affects brake efficiency. However, it could be the pad material has worn completely allowing the backplate to contact the disc which results in neglibible braking and wrecks the disc very quickly. With some wheel designs, it's possible to check pad thickness with an inspection mirror or the vehicle on a workshop four post lift but by far the easiest and most effective method is to remove the wheels and have an unrestricted view.

Welcome to the Forums.

As said, there is NO WAY of peace of mind with brakes without dismantling and inspecting each wheel.

Hello,
I agree with Graham and Grant above! Squealing brakes are a desperate cry for Help!
Ask friends for recommendations if you don't know a reputable establishment yourself, and have your brake system thoroughly checked out.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
