charging my iphone in my 2001 xj8
My mechanic says the cigarette lighter is giving off voltage but I have been through at least 6 and cannot get the phone charged-do need a special adapter or something because it was made in England? I LOVE my car but this charger thing is killing me!! Anyone have a solution? Otherwise this car is more than I ever imagined-the ride, the looks, the power-and it found me - I wasn't looking and it showed up at my mechanics looking for a good home with only 77k Miles.....Please help me!

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
You don't need a special adaptor but the cigar lighter is not the most reliable source of power for regularly used charging such as phones. It may well have voltage but continuous use eventually prevents the housing making a reliable positive connection. I prefer to 'jockey' a supply off the cigar lighter harness for charging phones etc.
Follow Norri's link in post #3 to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
