Welcome
Its a simple thing to fix as long as you know what you're doing (rimshot). Good luck.

Hello,
When you fall by our Xj6 Series section, you'll find us here:
XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
I'll post a link to my front end job.

It wasn't all that hard, just a bit involved and sometimes tedious. Definitely in the realm of DIY (I did it) but since you already have the car in the shop you might want to take a look anyway.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum philipa,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XJ6 Series I, II & III forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link UK & Eire - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

The only place they come together is in the cylinder bores and the spark plugs soon take care of the petrol!

Has the engine been flooded with failed start attempts and unburned fuel worked its way past the piston rings into the sump?
