Default Coolant level low issue (New member intro)

drive an (x250) XF 2010 and my car has a red sensor light that reads Coolant low. I brought to the dealership to get a fluid top off; they said that I needed to replace to coolant resevoir. Skeptical I asked if I can just replace the sensor but they said the sensor is built into the coolant.

1. Is the sensor really built into the coolant?

2. Does anyone have any DIY instructions and pics on how I can replace the coolant?

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum PJ704,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I assume you have posted here AFTER reading my reply post #11 to your identical question in this thread:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...nt-low-210782/

If so, you will know that you can definitely replace the sensor in the S/C engined model but possibly not in the N/A model. On the replaceable design, the sensor goes into a sleeve moulded into the base of the Expansion Tank - it doesn't go directly into the coolant.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link
