I bought this Jaguar (XJ12 1977) about 15 years ago and have put about 100,000 pleasurable miles on it. This car is a cruising machine with great handling characteristics. I also own a 72 Lotus Europa twin cam. The Jaguar has the same engine as my 92’ K-2500 Chevy truck. I knew the original owner, he put the Chevy 350 into it. I was told that the 350 kit cost $1000, rebuilding the V 12 was $10,000, do the math. The odometer just turned over when I bought it so it has at least 200,000 on it now. The original owner experienced an engine fire when the car had the V 12, sometime later he’s in an upscale restaurant and young person is coming through ringing a bell calling out his name. The owner says to him “don’t tell me, my car is on fire“ the young person says “how did you know“.The car has problems that need solving, appreciate everyone's help.
Hello,
You haven't mentioned just Which Jag you have that's been converted to a Chevy 350. That happened quite a lot in the US with V-12s, especially those in XJSs that lit themselves afire. It's good the fire dept was able to save the car.
