Default Deranged newbie

I must be sick in the head as I've just added another British car to the fleet . Hopefully this one will be more sympathetic to my wallet!

I picked up a 98 Vanden Plas last Wednesday for a song. It is in mechanically good shape with a full service history and 100K miles. In the couple hundred miles I've put on it so far it has proven to be a great ride. It is however a 12 year old car and needs a little sorting, primarily a headliner that is beginning to droop and a some bad touch up paint on the drivers side door.

Although this is the first Jag I've owned, my father had a few when I was growing up and they were impressive cars. So much so that I bought him a 66 Mk II to restore several Christmas's ago.

Anyway, picture time:

Nice color, one of my favorites. I think your pic is a little over exposed, and I'm guessing that is Carnival red (Maroon). I can kinda tell by the color of the garden hose which, I wager, probably just got a pretty good workout.

Thanks all.

Yes, my headliner is starting to droop behind the sunroof. I haven't had a chance to investigate yet, but have read on this site that it is a fairly common issue.

The photo was taken with my phone, so the quality is suspect. That said, here are both my British babies.

I have two Brits as well with the LR and the Jag, I think we just are giving people. Usually we're found giving money to parts places and mechanics, but in the end quite giving

I like the license plate on the Lotus, my buddy with a defender has one that says NTAJEEP

LOL - I couldn't agree more with the giving comments. the 25K service on the Lotus was simply jaw dropping.

Nice Esprit! I especially love the plate I toyed with buying one when I went shopping for my XK8...I decided it wasn't practical for a daily driver (big shock) and a bit out of my price range.

@Kwestra:

Yeah, there is no way to have the Lotus as a daily driver. I've had mine 4 years now and put almost 8000 miles on it. Like most supercars, it is very high strung and non trivial to work on - the engine has to come out for scheduled services.

That said, being able to do this makes it all worthwhile

(note the top speed - in kph)
