Default Electrical probs

oldencranky@gmail.com

New member here. Apologies, if I have this query in the wrong forum. Maybe someone could repost it in the correct one, and send me the link.

QUESTION?

Own a 2006 Jaguar XK-Series XK8 Convertible...CPU? problems are driving me nuts. Only have under 90,000 Km. Have not driven it much. Like, near new condition...no accidents or damages.

Bought car through a dealer contact in the U.S. and had it imported...features Amer. settings, which I think may be the source of my problems.

Cared for by a Cer. Jag. Mechanic from England, for many years. I have owned, over time, 4-5 Jags. Historically, the CPU has always gone bust.

1. dr. side window has lost its memory...allows rain and snow into cab
2. steering wheel will not hold its settings
3. damaged right side mirror...replaced, but cannot operate all settings
4. have born the the ignominy of noisy rear struts?
5. gas gauge does not accurately report the content size of gas tank...stops at 3/4 full...may need to have tank removed and sending unit replaced
6. head lights and running lights settings must be worked manually, whereas in this model they should run automatically

I think that is about it.

Suggestions for my mechanic? Not repaired sooner, because of costs.

Your electrical problems may all be due to low battery voltage. How old is the battery? How often do you use the car? These cars need full voltage all the time; if they do not get it, they exhibit various and random electrical issues. There is nothing wrong with the car except that the battery is not fully charged.
The later model XK is even more sensitive in this regard.
