Expectations: shattered.
I'm not sure where to post this. I just bought a very well broken in 1995 Xj6 Vanden plas, as I had taken a recent obsession with the X300 and x308 series. I was expecting some decent power, maybe some moderately comfortable seats and to feel cool. Boy was I underestimating these cars.
This thing absolutely ROARS down the street, holy hell I have never sat in a seat so comfy before, the steering is smooth as butter slathered on silk. I can't feel the gears changing at all, and the perfect amount of engine sound is whispered into the saloon- just enough to know that my car is alive and kicking butt with style. And the interior!- I've seen pictures but after being inside it for real I am left in awe. the detailing on the wood is superb, the leather is stitched perfectly, and the gadgets on this machine were so ahead of their time.
I was right about feeling cool while driving this beast, but I didn't know I would feel like a king and fall in love with the experience this car provides. Word to anyone thinking of picking one up: you absolutely must. I can't stop gloating about this car. I turn around and look at it walking backwards every time I park it.
That's my little happy rant.

Congrats on finally becoming a Jaguar owner and driver! Looks like you're hooked. There's no going back you know. And who would want to?? See you in the X300 forums. We will help you keep her roaring in style.
Welcome.
The Jags are just such a special car, and YES, I am biased a tad.
Until one actually parks the bum in one, and presses the loud pedal, does this hit home.
Get the smile right when cruising, it is a precise thing, mainly related to the XJ-S drivers, but is available to all.

I just have a few kinks to iron out with my cat, but I am incredibly happy to be driving her as is!
