Default Finally got myself an XK8 :)

Hi guys.

Been a jag fan for years - I used to live beside a dealership and got to lust after them as I drove past in an unimpressive parade of fords, peugeots, even the odd fiat.

Finally gave in and bought an x-type as the missus' car a year or so back, and loved it.

was surfing auto-trader last week and found a gorgeous old R-plate XK8 in Green with nice low miles... what else could I do?

I'm hoping to sort out a couple of wee niggles (she's in lovely condition for her age to be honest) so will be asking a good few questions no doubt.

good to be here.

Welcome to the forum,

My memory banks tell me R is '97-'98 is that right?

We have several members with XK's from that era so you should find plenty of help and info.
Any pics?

Yeah, it's a 97 model.

good to get some advice - 97 seems to be a long time ago in Internet years, so finding good information is a bit of a challenge.

As for photos... how did you guess?

This car is going to be more photographed than some folks kids!

Thanks for the welcomes guys - it's good to be here.

I reckon I must be boring most of my mates by now with my raving about how awesome she is to drive.

She does look spotless, but I have started to fix a few wee bits and bobs - there's a few bubbles of rust in the wheel arches: not really a surprise at 13 years of Scottish weather, but it kinda screams "fix this now" rather than leaving it for another year to develop..

also fixing up some internal stuff - my rear view mirror is humped (some nasty chemical mark at the bottom, which seems to be a thing they do?)

This weekend, I'm planning to clean up the leather and fix a few wee nicks/scratches.
