First Jaguar, smitten already
I had the opportunity of purchasing a 2004 S type diesel. Previously I have always bought cheapish sensible cars, estates mpv's etc. My previous car was a 2006 Ford C max. I've had a 1988 BMW, 3 series, a 2001 Audi A4, a 2004 Alfa Romeo 156 and a 2004 Saab 9-5 but this is in a different league. It has so much character.
I would not have considered an S type but one look at it and I had to find a way. I am now completely smitten and I can see what all the fuss is about. It's just so smooth and effortless. It doesn't feel fast but instead gathers pace in an undramatic way. I love the shape of it and the interior just feels special. A quick read through the handbook has shown me the myriad of features it has that all contribute to the enjoyment of driving.
I live driving it and every journey is an occasion. It has a full service history and is in very good condition. I can see it has bene looked after. The only area that night need attention is that the rear arches are just starting to bubble. There is soil behind the arches so I will attempt to remove the wheel arch liners and apply some preventative maintenance.
I could really do with a more practical car as I need to carry kids, bikes etc but I'm sure some roof bars or a tow bar and bike rack will overcome some of these issues as I don't want to go back to a mundane car.
I am very happy and have already learned a lot from this site. I look forward to learning more and. contributing further.
