Wink New to Jag ownership, I'm smitten

Hello! I am a woman from Pennsylvania who has been given the opportunity to own this beautiful auto you see in my picture. She is a 2000 S -Type 3.0 with 141,xxx miles under her bonnet. I usually try to do all my own maintenance/work on my vehicles....... However, I used to do this with a 1995 Jeep Wrangler. I am indeed a bit over my head I believe.

I am looking for to learning more about the 'Do's & Don't's and how to keep her in the best possible condition (after I fix my first MAJOR boo-boo) and keep her in the road as long as possible.

Welcome to the forum JagKnitter,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the S-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link US Northeast - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Congratulations on your 'new' Jaguar!

Members of our S-type section (where Graham has directed you) will be able to tell you all about how to care for your car. It isn't really hard, it's just that the Brits had some unusual ideas about some things; it's sort of like the difference between British English and Mercan English. But all cars operate on the same basic principles and once you know those, the rest is easier.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Hi, as welcome to the forum. Don't feel intimidated by the stype. Albeit slightly more complicated than the jeep it's still only nuts and bolts. Just grab a workshop manual and be methodical.

Your experiences, even sometimes what NOT to do, are a helpful addition to a knowledge forum such as this. Glad to have you.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I have found out that I need to learn a TON of things about electrical circuitry, wiring and the like. (Yeah, 2nd day of driving it, I left the lights on and had to jumper it.... I inadvertently reversed the polarity, and now I have a heap of issues). Yes, I know better... I was following the color of the TAPE that was on the negative terminal, and didn't look to see the WRITTEN/SYMBOL on the actual battery.

However, I am getting the opportunity to learn the car from the boot forward.
