Getting ready to start my Jaguar journey (Michigan)
Hello to all at JF! My name is Chaad, and I'm a lifelong auto enthusiast from Ann Arbor. I've had many marques, but never a Jaguar, even though I've always admired iconic models like the XJS and XKE, particularly the coupes. In fact, for many years, I'd said that the only car I'd consider replacing my Porsche 928 S4 with was the 2nd gen Jaguar XKR. Well, I sold off the 928-- actually two of them, including a Murf Supershark supercharged car-- back in '21 (due to big life changes caused by pandemic), and did not replace them with an XKR. I've got my DD '19 Alfa Giulia Ti Sport Q4 which is a hoot, and a fun little '76 Fiat 124 spider 1800, so I've not been suffering exactly, but I have missed the feel and sound of a V8.
So here I am, fascinated by an F-Type. What happened to the XKR, you may wonder? Well, I guess I feel it hasn't aged all that well in regards the interior, and I've lost interest in wrenching and fiddling, so a later model vehicle is more appealing in that way. I still think the XKR looks great and I'd love a 2+2 as my wife and I still have a 13 year old at home, but the F-Type looks awesome and the kid doesn't even like me picking him up in the Fiat because he thinks it looks "too extra." He can walk home, that's fine by me!
I've been studying and collecting info on the F Types a few months now, and hope to land one in the next month or so. Winter is closing in here, so I'm in no particular rush, but it seems like a good time to buy. I'll be going through more threads here on JF, and will be very happy to receive thoughts and suggestions from the membership here regarding purchasing an F-Type. Hopefully I'll be able to be a contributing member soon myself!
Thanks in advance to everyone here at JF.
