Cool Renewed Member (got another F-Type!)

Hi JaguarForums,

After my 2014 S V6 (Firesand Convertible) was totaled in early 2019 I went a few years driving uninteresting cars. I quite often missed my Jag, but I also counted myself lucky: I had owned the car of my dreams and somehow ended up with more money than I started with. Said no-one ever: "owning a British sports car is profitable!" Yet not a week went by that I didn't miss it. An energetic song would come on and I'd think "I should be listening to this in an F-Type." The weather would be beautiful and I'd find the little moonroof couldn't compare to having the top down. The transmission in the "nice, practical car" that I thought would suffice would stupidly upshift into some uselessly high gear that its pitiful 150hp 4-banger couldn't begin to push and I'd want to drive the piece of crap into a ditch and set it on fire...

After a promotion at work I decided to give in to my recurring dreams. There was no other color but Firesand Orange for me, and the drop-top was a necessity. My V6 looked fantastic with the black-pack, but I wondered what a V8 would sound like. I found one at a dealer near Chicago and mustered up the courage to have it shipped to Colorado. The V6 had been optioned a bit better, with the top-end stereo and integrated defrost in the windshield, but the only thing I miss are the gloss-black 19" wheels. The new car rides on 20" "carbon fiber", but the grey doesn't look as striking against the orange as the gloss-black of the old wheels. I may yet buy a set of forged wheels to remedy that defect...

This was last January, so my renewed introduction comes some 20 months late... However, I can report that the V8 seems way more inclined to step out than the V6 ever did. Could be the Potenza all-seasons aren't as sticky as the P-Zeros or Sottozeros I had on the old one, but I'll guess that an extra ~120 horsepower and foot-lbs make a bigger difference. The exhaust note is sublime, but it's also like having a little devil on my shoulder constantly exhorting me to press the loud pedal. Sadly the loud pedal turns into the go-to-jail pedal even faster than before, so I've learned to be restrained. Strangely enough, for as over-powered as this car is, I still find myself drawn to the stage-2 VAP tune...

This is my daily driver any time it's not likely to rain; but I've had it out in the snow, too (please forgive the heresy). I put the top down at every opportunity. If I'm honest, I love the attention I get, especially when I drive it through the university I work at. I've also taken it to the track (High Plains Raceway) where I demonstrated that I have no real idea how to drive this car near its limits. Not that it wasn't fun...

I'm not the sort of person to run around taking pictures of things I see every day, so please forgive these somewhat ordinary shots. The shoes, however... While I was between F-Types my favorite funky footware fellow, John Fluevog, offered these Oxfords as a special edition. Since I didn't have the car, I decided I'd have the shoes. Once I got the car I compared the colors and I hope you'll agree they're spot-on.

John Fluevog 837 Granville special edition.

Welcome back immunizer,

Splendidly colour co-ordinated.

The photo may exaggerate the height but you must be very close to bottoming the front bumper going over that kerb onto your driveway even pulling a sharp left onto it!

Very close indeed, but the only real risk is backing out too quickly. Sadly, the concrete has sunk a bit, but the HOA isn't exactly falling over themselves to repair "their" property. The truly terrifying part is fitting this beast in the tiny garage without scraping the sides.

Thanks, Jim! But actually my name's Corey; "John Fluevog" is the guy who designed those shoes. I suppose captioning the photo that way leads to the confusion.
