Hello everyone!
I was a Naval Aviation Electronics Technician who became an Aviation Maintenance Officer after a 30yr career so I believe my electronic and mechanical appitudes are OK.
At one point early in my career, I became the owner of an XJ-12. I think it was 1 72 or 73. It was the short wheelbase model. I was in the process of restoring it while I was stationed at what was Naval Air Station Miramar in San Diego. Unfortunately while I was on a long carrier deployment, the Navy and Marine Corps swapped control of the base. The Marines cleared out all of the vehicles that they couldn't contact. I was on an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf. Needless to say, my car was gone when I returned home. The Marine's response when I challenged their actions was that they couldn't contact me. When I petitioned the chain of command for action, I was told that it was too late to do anything and that they didn't know where to look for the vehicle. In other words, I was SOL.
Fast forward, I am dealing with my parent's estate and am next door to to one of my now-passed Mother's best friends. She too is a widow woman and drives a 2003 XJ-8 308 and has been having electrical problems. a local-yokel has been taking care of the car for her but here's a sample of the care: She's been having to get them to jump her battery and after each jump, they just tell her to drive around for a while and everything would be good. As an old woman, I was shocked that they would put her at risk like that so I stepped in.
There are several issues with her car but having a battery discharge after not driving it for three days was to me the closest alligator to the boat.

You would seem to be Well qualified for any Lucas electrical demons you might encounter.
