Default Greetings

Hello all. I am not exactly a newbie here; I have been lurking for about 3-4 years, but, of course you cold not know that. Even lurking, I got so much info from the posts concerning the Jag x100 that it was probably worth a few thousand USD. I am an old gearhead and have always had, and worked on, an old toy car. Volvo PV 544, an Avanti (which won best in class at the Nationals), a 1970 original Datsun 240Z, and a few more. They came and went, and for the last 6 years I have had a near mint 2004 Jaguar XKR Coupe in silver with ivory leather. I hunted for it only as I wanted a car that looked like a car, not a sneaker. With the help of this forum, I shot all the little bugs and one big one - peculiar in that a busted 10 cent tranny O-ring nearly cost me the whole car . The car's only problem now is that the adaptive shocks have defaulted to firm, and I am too infirm to fool around with shooting that bug and plan to have them replaced them all with non-adaptive shocks. New bushings, mounts, etc. too. The car has 61,200 miles, of which I put on 11,000. The best fun I have had with it was driving from home in CT to the Finger Lake wine country, and tooling in it from winery to winery. Tasting all the way (safely, of course :-). My wife had to drive it a few times, but she didn't mind it. This car is the only one I have ever had that could lay rubber in all gears at almost all speeds. Just did this once, but it was fun. In CT, the roads are rotten and crowded, but the XKR makes up for a lot of the annoyance of the Bos-Wash corridor. I hope to learn even more now that I have subscribed.

Cheers,

Reid

Welcome to the forums Reid,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've posted a shocks question in the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also use the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
