Welcome to the forum Chris,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The regular candidates for conversion are 1970's XJ saloons. Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-i-ii-iii-16/ to the XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II or III forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

If you prefer two doors then the XJS or XK8 are options although a more complex conversion.

You can also visit the US Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-mid-atlantic-65/ to find other members in your region.

Good luck finding a suitable donor car and enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello, Chris,
I wish you well in your search for a conversion candidate. Really all you need is a sound body and good interior.
I got mine already converted so someone else experienced all the fun and pain of conversion. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Default Thanks for all the well wishes!

After searching far and wide, I discovered a few things.
1. Jags aren't always what they seem on paper. My wife and I drove all the way to Buffalo to see an advertised car that was a hunk of junk.
2. I can't fit into an XJS. I'm 6'5" and can't help it.
3. The big 12's are musical when started.
4. There is a quiet beauty in a Stromberg carburador attached to an XKE.
5. Bought a '00 XJ8 with 66k with the timing chain/waterpump/transmission/and headliner already changed. I'm in the bonus round, right? RIGHT??
6. A car that sits gathers much moss.
7. I'm into my mechanic about $2700 into shock towers, ball joints, lower control arms, both rear wheel bearings and a handful of small issues. That's a lot of moss.

Enjoy you long weekend. The kitty came out of the detailing shop today and is getting tinted windows tomorrow. I hope to finally enjoy the car on Wednesday.

Cheers!
