Default Greetings from a New X-type Owner in Pennsylvania USA

Hello, All!

We've just picked up a 2002 X-type in blue; 130K miles, 2.5 slushbox trans.

It will be a fairly low-use family car, we usually put only about 5K a year or so on the cars. The car appears to have been pretty well maintained, pulled the service records and dumped the ECM and found no surprises.

P0420 and P0430 codes, so the first order of business will be Seafoam or BG44K and some good gasoline to see if we can clean it up.If not, I've sourced the o2 sensors (I'll replace them all) with an inexpensive nippondenso units, and I've measured up the cats and found some $100 units that will live quite nicely where the factory cats are now.

I've learned the parts substitution game very well, being a former Land Rover owner (2000 Disco 2), and I also know that careful maintenance will help this sedan to go for a long time!

Right off the bat, I can see that the grill needs a facelift, and maybe some updated rear lights, but for now, we'll just put it to rights and then start the prettying up!

By the way, my username is my ham radio call, WA3RA...been a ham since the days of valves!

It's been a Looooong time since I saw/heard the term 'slushbox'!

My husband's father was a ham (dead some years), but I'm not familiar with the term 'valves.'
