Greetings from Santa Barbara
Hi, my name is Phil, and I live (born and raised) in Santa Barbara, CA. The perfect place to own a Jaguar convertible, right?
I have admired them from afar since I was a boy in the 60s. The neighborhood kids were all agog over Corvettes but what I wanted was an XKE. It seems any time I saw a movie I really liked, the hero drove a Jaguar. Even lately, when my wife and I watched all episodes of Inspector Morse from beginning to end - Jaguar.
I posted pics of some classics I have owned, but they are not Jags, I hope no one is insulted and will simply pity my lack of Jaguar ownership, past or present. There is always hope for the future!
Right now I am perusing on-line ads for XK8s and am amazed how inexpensively I could pick one up. If it sounds too easy then there must be a reason. I am here to learn about that.
Be patient with me, please . . .

Hello, Phil,
I didn't own a Jaguar until late September 2013. The thought never crossed my mind, until our Daily Driver began giving trouble and husband started haunting Craig's List for a replacement.
He found an Xj6, called me in to look and said, "If I had my way, THIS is what I would buy!" And he did! But then he gave it to me because I'm the one who cares for the Pretty things.
We're still driving the same DD, but now I have a Jaguar!
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Phil,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
XK8's are a great car - I've had two of them. With any Jaguar, service history is critical and you should question any gaps in potential purchases. The weaknesses are tensioners, cooling system and transmission. You'll find plenty of information on these in the model tech forum.
Follow this link XK8 / XKR ( X100 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
You can also visit the USA Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Welcome to the forums. Sorry for what you're all going through down in Santa Barbara right now. Such a beautiful place. Jags depreciate terribly here, but that means you can pick up an older model for cheap. The newer 2007+ body style is starting to enter the 20K range as well, so keep your eyes open for good deals.
