Greetings from Texas
Hi all, my name is Royce and I live in Texas -- at the moment. I owned a 1994 XJ6 a few years back and really liked it until the repairs started getting really expensive. I've always actually liked working on cars, but at the time I wasn't equipped to do my own maintenance. After a Jag-less decade, I bought another Jag, this one was to have "fun" working on it. It's a 1998 XJR. And I have mostly enjoyed working on it, except for the five days it took me to get the harmonic balancer off so I could replace the timing chains and tensioners. It actually runs now, but has a very lumpy idle which I'm attempting to run down.
At first I'm sure I'll be mostly asking questions, but in the future maybe I'll be able to contribute something of value too.

Hello, Royce,
It's a little appreciated fact, that once you've owned a Jag, you're smitten for life. It's only a matter of time before you HAVE to get another one -- even if it needs work.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Royce,
Those harmonic balancers certainly are never at risk of falling off. Front upper wishbone fulcrum bolts are another challenge to remove.
