Default Hello to all - new to Jags and forum

Just got a 2001 S-type 4.0 V8 base model - first one. Burgundy (NOT 'red' I understand). Lucky find - 31k miles and garage kept since purchase by original owner. Already having some fun, though: went to replace existing worn Loud! Firestone Firehawk GT tires (AutoCheck notes that car has only seen about 7k miles of road in last 3 years...) and three lug nuts of RR wheel... well, you know. I'm already finding good help here in the forum. BTW any advice about whether I should replace trans fluid;I suspect its original stuff, now been in service/place for ~16 years. Also, any advice about replacement plugs or how to do them myself? Lastly, any pointers about doing front tie rod ends or rear control rods? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Congratulations on your First Jaguar!
Our S-type section can doubtless help you with fluid changes and plugs, not to mention tie rod ends and control rods. Someone will be along soon to direct you there.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Mr Donut,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The transmission fluid change will be a definite YES. Another item not on your list is suspension bushes. There's a lot of rubber in the Jaguar suspension which deteriorates with time as well as mileage.

Follow this link S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 ( X200 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link US Northeast - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
