Default Hello From Dallas, Texas

Hello all, glad to be here!

My wife and I can now officially call ourselves Jaguar owners! We just purchased a 2014 Jaguar XFR-S in Polaris White and are looking forward to learning from all of you experienced owners and hopefully take part in any meetups in the Dallas area.

That's about the only show I go to on the Dallas side of the metro area. I am doing some major work to the XJ8 right now and hope to have the engine back in time for the show this May but I'll be there wandering around no matter what because I enjoy the variety of cars at that event. I just checked and the Jaguar club also has its Concours on April 27th this year.

If you ever want to come over to the Fort Worth side of the metro, I know of some great car shows and cruise night events over here. I usually hit at least one event a month from March to October tho I mostly participate with my 1969 Corvette.

That would be great if you were able to have the XJ8 ready for the May show. Based on what I've read on the show's website, I'm thinking my 2014 might be too new to enter as a participant, but regardless, I'm certainly going to make a point to get there. I didn't know about this or the Concours on the 27th but we might look into that as well.

While we spend most of our time in the north Dallas area I wouldn't be opposed to head towards Ft. Worth for a good show. We're fairly new to the Dallas area as it is so we're still learning about all of the good stuff happening around here.

I started going just to look because a friend of mine was showing his Reliant Robin 3-wheeler, but there's really no place to park at White Rock Lake except on the show field or at least not anywhere close. They block off the entrance to the Dreyfuss Club Point for the car show entries and then all the other public parks around the lake become overcrowded with regular park users, which doesn't leave much parking for car show spectators. So I just started putting the XJ8 in the show. Mine was just a daily driver but this show gave me the motivation to do a full 4-step, clay-bar, polish and wax every spring. A couple years ago, the XJ8 was leaking from everywhere and mileage getting up there so I retired it from the daily grind and updated to an XF. With the XJ8 on the back burner, last year I drove the XF into the show. There was also an XF-R so the XF wasn't alone.

Over here on the Fort Worth side, my favorite show is the Christian Classic Cruisers cruise night event every 3rd Saturday of the month from 5 to 9pm at the Birdville ISD Stadium on Mid Cities Blvd & Precinct Line Rd in North Richland Hills. It can be anywhere from 100 to 300 cars depending on the weather. My brother and I are usually there with our Corvettes.

Very cool. Sounds like our XFR-S would be ok to have as an entrant then. We certainly want to check that show out either way!

Thanks for the tip on the Ft. Worth show. Hopefully we'll be able to make it to a couple of those as well!
