Hello everybody
I am so happy to have discovered this forum. Please forgive me if I did not know how to start when I started by just replying a post inside a 3 year old thread, I did not see anywhere the "post new thread" box. About me and my Jaguar x type Mona? In distress after a very bad front collision inside another Jaguar x type in the Pennsylvania woods in the icy 2014 winter which crashed both her front and my breast bone I looked for a similar car, a 3.0L grey one (my first one was white). Jaguar x types always charmed me with their delicate and feminine bodies among the strong SUVs all over the place in the rural area where I bought a little house in the woods but brave AWD which I realized I needed after my TransAm 72 couldn't make it uphill the deep slope road in the winter. At the time Mona came in my life she was presented by the dealer that sold her to me (A ... Mazda New York dealer!) as in very good health but I discovered that they had just changed her Bank 1 downstream oxygen sensor and...catalytic converter! Presently I struggle with a popped out of the blue P0420, the same that Mona had as I (allas) only now discovered, when I got her from that dealer's "certified" used cars stock. Her under the hood cluttering overwhelms me as I am not only not the young I was when had the easy workable TransAm but my mechanical background is as weak as a former French teacher's can be.
Rural Pennsylvania was very tough for Mona, from the malicious banging at Walmart supermarket's parking, to especially the ironical treatment of the auto mechanics taking advantage of my mechanical ignorance. And my ... accent.
I am so happy here where I feel among friends.

Welcome to the forum Marcela,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I know you've already found your way to the X-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

I am so happy here where I feel among friends who know so many helpful things that they share to me without the ironical "why did you buy a Jaguar"?

Marcela,
I've merged the FIRST INTRO thread with the SECOND INTRO thread you posted eight minutes later.
Try out the Post New Thread / Reply to Thread / Quick Reply here in Intro forum as you get the hang of how things work.

Hello, Marcela,
Unfortunately, it's a fact that a woman alone is often taken advantage of by men in auto repair shops. However, in these forums you've already doubtless learned you'll get straight advice from those who Know, and they'll be patient with your ignorance (which is no sin, it merely means you haven't learned yet. Everyone had to start in the beginning sometime, even our Experts) until you learn enough to fix your car yourself, or at least know what you're talking about next time you take Mona to the shop and are less likely to be taken for a ride..
I hope you get Mona in tip top condition, so you two can travel the wilds of rural Pennsylvania with not a worry.
And in answer to that impermanent question, "Why did you buy a Jaguar?" I tell them, "Because incorrigible and unrepentant tom-boy that I am, this car makes me feel like a Lady!"
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

In another line, can you suggest me an explanation to the puzzlement Re 19 inch Denso sensor I posted today? As for the mechanics scolding me why I don't have an SUV this is from their own frustration and ignorance (see my posts at the P1646 thread telling the story of their educating me that my Jaguar has ... 5 catalytic converters and it is not worthy that they bother with it). Thank you so much.

Your best option is to ask these questions in the X-type section where you have been posting.
Next, ask around for an independent mechanic with good reputation who's willing to work on the car for you. These people are literally Everywhere, one merely has to know where to find them. That means asking friends, acquaintances, people at the coffee shop, people in grocery line. Eventually you'll find such a person who might work out of his garage, back yard, or have rented a storage unit that allows such a business to be carried on the premiss. This person works fast, for reasonable cost, and does a good job. All this mostly for love of the craft. Some of them even like the challenge of Jaguars!
I wish you success.
