I've been on the forum for a while, reading posts, but I've never introduced myself yet. So, here we go!
The first:
I fell into the world of Jaguars with a 3.0L V6 X-Type. I just wanted to try a V6, and in the end, I loved it! Unfortunately, I had an accident with it and had to part with it...
The second:
But I wanted to buy a Jaguar again, and after discussing it with my buyer (a Jaguar parts professional), I came up with the idea of buying an XJR. I ended up with an XJ Concept 8. It took me two years, between customs and European paperwork issues, to acquire it. The car is of Swiss origin (hence the Concept 8), and I have all the maintenance receipts except for those from 2014 to 2019. I bought it at 145,000 km in May 2023.
I fell in love with the Portfolio's configuration, its history, and its rarity. It's not perfect, especially aesthetically, but I plan to restore it (complete repaint and redo the original rims).
Mechanically, the previous owner had already changed the four shock absorbers (which was a real plus for me). For my part, I changed the rear wishbones and a few other suspension parts. I also changed the catalytic converters, which failed two weeks after purchase. And aside from normal maintenance, I also changed the gearbox solenoid valves and removed and replaced the supercharger bearings (and yes, I changed the bottom-valve hose). Today, it has 153,000 km and apart from an airbag warning light, everything is fine
The third:
So this is my black cat, I named it the 2002.5 S-type 3.0L! It annoys me!
I bought it in November 2023 to make it my everyday car... Result: after a year, 3 km driven in a year...
The car was very poorly maintained by its previous owner. All the suspension bushings were dead, the car was leaking oil and consuming so much that the engine seized up...
Today the engine is new, the transmission was removed to replace the oil pump and the solenoid valves were replaced. But I still have 2 million warning lights on the dashboard and it refuses to start. I'll talk about these problems again in a dedicated post. Too bad, because I love this car, it's super comfortable, even more so than the Portfolio... It breaks my heart. (And my wallet)
